RF power detector

Tuesday, 28 April, 2009 | Supplied by: Soanar Limited

A monolithic broadband high-performance logarithmic RF power detector from Linear Technology provides accurate RF power measurement over a wide frequency range covering the 800-900 MHz and the 1.7 to 2.2 GHz mobile bands, as well as the 2.6 and 3.5 GHz WiMAX bands.

The 5538 RF provides a DC output voltage that is log-linearly proportional to its input power level.

Within its measurement dynamic range, the detector exhibits accuracy and linearity of ±0.8 dB over its rated operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

The device’s sensitivity can detect signals of -75 dBm to +10 dBm at 2.14 GHz and it operates with a single-ended research input and requires no external RF transformer.

Other features include: log-linear dynamic range of 75 dB at 880 MHz and 70 dB at 2.14 GHz; rise time is 100 ns; fall time 200 ns.
