Hittite has released a family of GaAs InGaP HBT MMIC VCOs with half frequency and divide-by-four outputs providing continuous frequency coverage from 8.45 to 13.9 GHz.
The HMC510LP5 (E), HMC534LP5 (E), HMC583LP5 (E) and HMC584LP5 (E) integrate resonators, negative resistance devices and varactor diodes and feature half frequency divide-by-four outputs.
Designed with a monolithic structure, each exhibits good phase noise performance up to -116 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz over temperature, shock and process variations.
The power output for each VCO ranges from +10 to +13 dBm from a +5 V supply, and the prescaler and RF/2 functions may be disabled to conserve current if not required.
These devices are complete, wide frequency range VCOs requiring no external matching components.
