The Schaffner model MFO 6501 magnetic field testing device provides power frequency testing in accordance with EN/IEC 61000-4-8 and 61000-4-9. The device consists of a programmable low impedance power amplifier, driving magnetic loop antennas such as the INA 702 or 701, or loops to individual user requirements.

With the INA 702, field strengths of up to 40 A/m can be achieved.

The operation of the standalone tester is achieved via a toggle-switch which selects either a 50 or 60 Hz signal, a switch to select current range and rotary control for fine continuous adjustment.

Features of the device include short circuit proofing and reduced size and weight particularly when compared with transformer-based units.

Pulsed field testing can also be carried out through interposing the INA 752 pulse wave shape adapter between the MFO 6502 power amplifier and the INA 701 or 702 loop antennas.

Field strengths of up to 1200 A/m can be achieved.
