B&K Precision Corporation has released the Model 2650, a handheld, PC-com-patible 3.3 GHz spectrum analyser. Weighing only 1.8 kg including battery, this compact, versatile, portable unit is suitable for use in the evaluation of W-CDMA, CDMA, GSM, PDC, PHS, Wireless LAN, 802.11 and Bluetooth systems.

The analyser offers a number of features that provide ease of use, including: measuring frequency range from 50 kHz to 3.3 GHz; auto-tuning function; channel power measurements; adjacent channel power measurements; occupied bandwidth measurements; electric field strength measurements; magnetic field strength measurements; and RS232 interface.

The device can be used for pre-compliance testing during development before third party testing. It is flexible and can be put to work either in the field or on the bench testing frequency responses, testing master antenna systems, measuring communications transmitter spurious radiation, locating sources of EMI or to measure unwanted RF radiation.

The built-in RS232 PC interface allows the user to either control the analyser's settings or to sample signals and then save, manipulate or print the imported signals. A lightweight portable printer is available as an option.
