FSG spectrum analyser

Thursday, 07 February, 2008 | Supplied by: Rohde & Schwarz (Australia) Pty Ltd

Rohde & Schwarz has released the FSG, a spectrum analyser for cost-conscious users that is tailored to meet current requirements in the development and production of wireless communication products.

The unit supports all the standards of the 2nd and 3rd mobile radio generation as well as current broadband technologies such as WiMAX. Featuring a demodulation bandwidth of 28 MHz, the analyser can already handle the measurement tasks of the UMTS LTE mobile radio generation.

Its high dynamic range, a frequency range up to 13.6 GHz and the integrated vector signal analysis make the FSG a tool for the general analysis of digitally modulated signals.

The analyser is suitable for a wide range of applications eg, in development laboratories, production lines and as a reference for product verifications. Measurement applications for internationally common standards such as GSM, WCDMA, CDMA2000 1xRTT, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, Bluetooth, WLAN or WiMAX are available at the press of a button.

Due to its I/Q demodulation bandwidth of 28 MHz, a high dynamic range of, for example, 170 dB between 1 dB compression point and DANL, as well as integrated vector signal analysis, the scope of functions of the R&S FSG is suitable for modern development laboratories.

The customised operating concept of the spectrum and signal analysers also supports the user in the development of new mobile radio products.

In addition, the FSG provides maximum throughput in production lines. It features a high measurement speed of, for example, 2.5 WCDMA code domain measurements per second. The spectrum analyser is also precise and reliable. With 3G, it has an inherent EVM of below 0.7% while offering repeatability of the results. The device is equipped with the same remote-control command set as all spectrum analysers from the company. Users who already have instruments from R&S will be able to integrate the analyser into their test environments without additional programming effort and keep operating costs low.

The analyser is available in the frequency ranges up to 8 and 13.6 GHz.
