Simoco MPT1327 trunked radio system

The technology of the Simoco Xfin is claimed to represent a fundamental shift in trunked radio design from hardware to software based.

While traditional trunked radio systems rely on separate hardware components: base stations, trunk channel controllers, switches and telephone interfaces, Xfin takes a different approach by combining base station RF components with software trunk control functionality within a single 1RU Xfin blade unit.

Each blade is a software-driven IP device that connects to other blades using the same IP networking rules as standard IT equipment, creating a distributed rather than a hierarchical architecture.

Each blade unit is a building block of the system, with the construction of a complete system achieved by adding an additional blade for each RF channel required.

The blades offer an alternative strategy to the emerging digital technologies. Converging a digital IP system with analog RF components enables users to benefit from IP functionality more normally associated with TETRA or P25 without the need for coverage and frequency redesign.
