SIAE Microelettronica has released the PDH/SDH/ethernet radio ALS series that bridges the gap between medium- and high-capacity radio technologies, radio capacity ranges from E1 to 4xSTM-1 or equivalent ethernet band.

The modulation is software programmable between 4, 16 and 32 QAM to transmit a capacity up to 53xE1 or 105 Mbps in one 28 MHz RF channel and between 32 and 128 QAM to transmit a capacity up to 4xSTM-1 or 580 Mbps.

A single IDU can handle (depending on the capacity) up to four independent directions and up to three IDUs can be connected to each other via a high-speed bus to build a nodal configuration able to manage up to 12 independent directions.
