Agilent Technologies has announced its quality of service (QoS) test for carriers providing wireless services over networks based on CDMA.

The active-call test system enables service providers to ensure optimal network and service performance.

With support for CDMA networks now incorporated in the Agilent OSS Wireless QoS Manager, providers can test service quality for CDMA/1xRTT wireless services, including such key metrics as service availability, round-trip send/receive times and voice quality mean opinion scores on the first try.

The test performs active calls on a range of wireless services, including video telephony, multimedia streaming, mobile instant messaging, unified messaging, voice, SMS, email, web and MMS (multimedia message services), WAP and i-mode.

The Wireless QoS Manager has been deployed by carriers offering services over GSM and UMTS (universal mobile telecommunications system) networks.

This system can now test interoperability issues between the CDMA networks that are common in North America and Asia in addition to the GSM and UMTS networks that are common in Europe.
