Dominion Electronics has introduced the MOS series - the economy model of the Matrix Orbital product range.

The series features a serial interface that operates two speeds and at full RS232 and TTL levels. Also featuring software controlled backlight and contrast the MOS series includes other built-in functions such as medium digits to make development fast.

A custom startup screen and three general-purpose outputs allow Matrix Orbital displays to be feature rich with sought out simplicity.

Features include: built-in font with provision for up to eight user-defined characters; 9600 bps or 19.2 Kbps; software controlled; 32 levels of contrast in MOS series LCDs; four levels of contrast in MOS series VFDs; 32 levels of contrast in MOS series PLEDs; communication over RS232 or TTL; ability to add customised splash/startup screen; configurable time-out setting up to 90 min; three GPOs for a variety of applications; horizontal or vertical bargraphs and medium-sized digits; extended temperature available (only in VFDs and PLEDs).

For developers wanting to cut down development time communicating to parallel displays, all the MOS LCD, VFD and PLED series products can be powered by the new X-board. The X-board S-series is Matrix Orbital's newest and is a compact economy serial interface module. It was designed as a daughterboard to receive serial backbone and display this data on an LCD, VFD or PLED.
