ANZ Stadium to get Wi-Fi
Telstra has announced that is has become ANZ Stadium's exclusive technology partner for Wi-Fi and content distribution, and will supply in-stadium Wi-Fi connectivity for the next five years. This will enable spectators to make greater use of mobile technology within the stadium.
Telstra has selected Cisco to supply its Connected Stadium Wi-Fi solution, which has been installed in other sports venues across the globe.
The Managing Director of ANZ Stadium, Daryl Kerry, said the stadium wanted to move beyond simple internet access and wanted to provide a more “engaging and memorable experience for fans”. Telstra says the solution will include an option for “additional digital media functionality”.
Initially, the rollout will connect sponsor content to Wi-Fi devices throughout the stadium, supplying information, announcements and video content. The Wi-Fi network will be available to the public from the beginning of the 2014 NRL season.
