Trevor began his career as a design engineer and over a career spanning 30 years has held various senior management positions up to board level. He runs a training and consultancy business aimed at helping people transition from technical expert to manager, and is the author of several books including Help! What’s the secret to leading engineers? and Help! I need to master critical conversations.
Leading up and across — influencing skills for technical leaders
15–18 September: four 3-hour sessions
This course will provide a deep understanding of the true role and expectations of line leaders, as well as virtual leaders, across the organisation. Learn practical tools and strategies to reduce organisational conflict from competing priorities and strategies to effectively communicate and resolve issues and ideas. The course will use case studies and real-world examples to build up an influencer plan that includes practical templates to use back in the office.
This course is ideal for technical managers, specialist engineers, project managers and anyone who wants to have more influence with the C-suite and their peers.

Critical Conversations for technical people
24–27 November: four 3-hour sessions
Honest discussions are essential to ensure a project is successful, for providing feedback to a customer or assisting in the development of a key member in a team. This course will provide a practical framework to help to plan and have a potentially emotional but honest conversation while protecting personal relationships. The practical framework-based structure with conversational models will fast-track your initiation into the world of critical conversation and provide recovery strategies to get conversations back on a good footing when things go awry.

8–12 February: five 3-hour sessions
