Nokia, TeamTalk partner in New Zealand

TeamTalk will become a reseller partner of Nokia equipment, software and services with the aim of further developing critical, resilient communications throughout New Zealand.

The companies aim to deliver solutions focused on IP/MPLS-based critical and resilient communications services, emergency services, connected service vehicles and wireless technologies, as well as private LTE and IoT.

TeamTalk will use Nokia’s IP/MPLS backhaul network solution for its new digital radio system.

TeamTalk, which has been operating in New Zealand for 20 years, intends to transition from being a pure network vendor into a critical communications service provider.

“Today, a substantial portion of the New Zealand market is not adequately covered by a mobile network, and this raises issues for emergency service responders,” said Andrew Miller, CEO of TeamTalk.

“Our goal is to deploy a country-wide solution that will provide critical communications to the majority of New Zealand’s emergency services,” he added. “We found Nokia to have the right product set and partnerships to make this project a reality.”

The partnership with Nokia will allow TeamTalk to deliver emergency service vehicle edge, private LTE and IoT technologies to New Zealand.

“Thanks to TeamTalk, this partnership will help us increase our presence in key vertical segments — starting with emergency services and soon extending to all networks requiring resilience such as transport, airports, ports and utilities,” said Stuart Mac Hendry, head of transportation, energy & public sector for Asia Pacific and Japan at Nokia.

“The depth and breadth of our technology expertise and significant presence in the New Zealand market were the determining factors for TeamTalk to partner with us.”
