RadioComms Connect finds a new home
The major event for the two-way calendar will be moving to a new venue.
This year it will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, a ‘six star green star’ environmentally rated convention centre, located on the banks of the Yarra River.
The move has come after five years of growth for the event, with 70 exhibitors and 115 stands expected at the exhibition being held on 4-5 December.
“With the unprecedented growth of the exhibition, the event is moving to the much larger, state-of-the-art facilities offered at the MCEC. All the major players are taking part in the exhibition to show end users and radio industry professionals what they have to offer and a solid line-up of local and international speakers should help give even those that have attended in the last few years reason to return,” said Paul Davis, director of WFevents.
The theme will be ‘The Future of Professional Radio Communications in Australia’, which will explore the rapidly changing environment of the radio communications industry. There will be a great range of speakers at the conference, held in conjunction with the exhibition. The streams will include training and education, utilities, networks and infrastructure, mining and resources, and public safety. Keynote speakers will include Prof Hugh Bradlow, chief technology officer of Telstra, and Peter Clemons from Quixoticity.
Other confirmed speakers include:
- Dr Irena Atov, technology manager of Reliability Engineering Group at Telstra
- Marta Fontecha, transport area manager at Teltronic
- Brendan Woods, manager of EME Design and Engineering at UGL
- Dietmar Shcops, director of international sales at Funkwerk Security Communications
- Des Bahr, CEO of APCO Australasia
- John Yaldwyn, chief technology officer of 4RF Communications
- Alvin D’Mello, data communication system manager of QR National
- Doug Booth, Country Fire Authority project director
- Representatives from Codan, Tait, Auria Wireless, RMIT, Simoco and Motorola
The ARCIA gala dinner will also be moving from the Crown Casino to the MCEC. Over 500 guests are expected to attend, where awards will be presented to members of the industry, including the Sir Angus Tait Memorial Scholarship, Life Member of ARCIA, the Peter Wallace Award and the Jonathan Livingston Seagull Award.
Further information on the event and dinner will be published in the Sep/Oct issue of RadioComms Asia-Pacific.
