BAI announced today that Stephen Matthews has been appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer for the BAI Group.

Matthews was employed following a comprehensive search process after current CFO Michael Buckling announced his retirement last year. Matthews will begin his role at BAI on 10 June.

Matthews was most recently employed as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer at NBN Co Ltd, where he was responsible for financial control, commercial finance, finance systems and capitalisation, planning and reporting, and tax.

Prior to working at NBN Co Ltd, Matthews was with the Foster’s Group for seven years in a number of roles including Group CFO and before that he was with Diageo for six years as, first, the Financial Director and then Commercial Strategy Director. In the UK he had various senior roles with United Distillers & Vintners, Guinness Brewing and Rothschild Asset Management.

“We are thrilled to have Stephen joining us at BAI,” said Jim Hassell, BAI’s CEO. ”He has extensive experience working with global companies which will help him manage our group of international and Australian communications businesses.”

“Mike has had a huge influence on the company and I want to thank him for the outstanding contribution he’s made, not only in his role with BAI, but personally to me, since my arrival as CEO last year," added Hassell. “Mike gave us plenty of notice of his retirement which has allowed us the time to find the right replacement. Mike will work with Stephen to ensure an orderly handover.”
